The Kapiti Coast District Council in Paraparaumu wanted to create an attractive playground for the local community while working with a limited budget and existing infrastructure in the form of asphalt pathways. The key challenge was to maximise the use of the available space without the need for costly construction works, while still delivering an engaging and functional environment for users of all ages.
With the support of Creo Playspace, a well-considered playground was developed that made full use of the existing layout. Instead of altering the structure of the space, the focus was on introducing new play elements such as a basket swing, a Robinia swing set, and upper-body fitness elements. Additionally, at the client’s request, outdoor fitness equipment was included to cater for older users.
