WHAT CHALLENGE DID THE CUSTOMER COME WITH?

The London Borough of Merton wanted to enhance the recreational area in Figges Marsh Park, located in the Mitcham district, with modern, attractive, and functional play equipment. The key challenge was to create a space that would not only encourage activity and relaxation but also serve as an aesthetic and lasting feature of this prestigious urban area, with particular attention to the needs of girls, who often have fewer dedicated spaces in public areas.

WHAT DID WE DO IN THE PROJECT?

Active Landscapes designed, delivered, and installed the play equipment at Figges Marsh. The project included a unique, fully custom-built Pergola – designed from scratch specifically for this location – and a Net Unit climbing structure. These new elements became the heart of the Unity Place zone, a space dedicated to socialising, relaxation, and creative activity for young people.

WHAT DID THE CUSTOMER GAIN FROM THE PROJECT?

Thanks to this investment, the London Borough of Merton now has a modern and attractive recreational space that stands out from standard urban solutions. The Pergola and Net Unit have become not only areas for play but also gathering points and symbols of openness in this part of London. Despite being a demanding and long-term project, it was successfully completed – residents can now enjoy durable, aesthetic, and functional park equipment that promotes social integration and enhances the borough’s image as a friendly and innovative urban environment.
