From Bubbles to Bubbles Atomiq
First came Buglo Bubbles, single atoms, perfect for play, but as we know, atoms can only do so much on their own. At some point, the question arose: what if we created connections between them, and ultimately entire bonds? After all, that’s how it works in chemistry. So why shouldn’t it work on a playground?
This is how Bubbles Atomiqwas born, a collection in which the spheres are linked by ropes, bridges, walkways, and slides. Instead of isolated points, a network of connections emerges, encouraging children to move between elements and discover new parts of the structure.
The concept of connections
The series includes eight flagship products along with additional complementary modules. Among them are a freestanding slide entrance and seating near the swings, creating natural stopping points for both children and their carers.
New modules
The connections between the spheres affect how children use the playground. Rather than focusing solely on movement, they begin to consider the presence of others, wait their turn, observe, and adapt to the situation. Play becomes more collaborative.
Cognitive scientist’s opinion
As noted by Prof. Maciej Błaszak, PhD, of Adam Mickiewicz University, it is precisely in such situations that important cognitive processes are activated. Children learn to recognise their own emotions and navigate group dynamics, develop the ability to take others’ perspectives, and build relationships. The experiences gained during joint play are remembered and applied in future situations.
Bubbles Atomiq can be seen as a system of connections, where not only each individual element matters, but above all the relationships between them. A single sphere offers specific possibilities, but it is the pathways between them that introduce additional layers of play, related to interaction and decision-making. The result is an environment that changes the dynamics of playground use, directing children’s attention not only to movement but also to the presence of others
